Hypnosis & Weight Loss

Weight loss is a rather complicated and, for some, a painful topic of discussion. Doctors, nutritionists and other health care professionals often espouse the belief that our bodies are just machines: reduce the number of calories taken in and increase the amount of calories burned and one will inevitably lose weight, period. “You want to lose weight? Eat less and exercise more.” This attitude can lead to much frustration and often a sense of shame or guilt on the part of the over weight. I know from personal experience. It can even lead to desperation and desparate people do desparate things: fad dieting, major surgery (gastric bypass, lap-band) and the taking of medications that may or may not have very negative and sometimes long-term side effects. Just listen to TV ads for such medications. The FDA requires pharmaceutical companies to disclose in the ad the nature of such side effects, and generally, they are scary.

 

Here’s the thing. ITS NOT YOUR FAULT! It turns out that your body, minds (conscious and subconscious) and spirit are much more entwined and complicated than anyone thought. For many, no cookie-cutter approach will work because the factors that determine your weight and how you lose it and keep it off are specific to YOU.

 

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for anyone to avoid these remedies, and I’m not saying any of them are inherently bad. If your doctor recommends a radical remedy because of major medical problems such as heart disease, diabetes and joint disease or others, there is likely a very good reason why. But, if you have had gastric bypass or lap-band surgery, or you have done weight loss programs up one side and down the other, and find you have lost some weight and then stalled or gained back some or all of what you lost, then I can help you. If you have “tried it all,” and want to truly make a permanent change, then I will recommend hypnotherapy as a way to accomplish what it is you want for yourself.

 

I can help you accept the slow and steady weight loss that seems to be essential for permanent weight loss. I can help you accept and be comfortable with your new self image and to feel self confident in your dealings with how people around you respond to the new you. I will give you the tools to achieve your new self and maintain it over time. Call me for an appointment. The fee for the first session (90 minutes) is $40. Each session after that is $120 for 60 to 90 minutes. We work together to achieve the goals you set much like a coach and client. Done in three phases, the process can take two to three months or more depending on how much weight you want to release. You will release 1 to 2 pounds per week. If you need to release 25 pounds or more, I will work in conjunction with your medical doctor and with his or her referral.
